your unfiltered gaze was melting me into the sunlight; 
and i was dripping in euphoria, 
flickering, fidgeting, fluttering eyelashes against the beaming rays, the puffs of wind fluctuating between us, unsettling the epoch and grass beneath our feet. 
yet you remained stilled, in the midst of my enamor. 
i never understood the romanticization of stories so often told like this, 
until your brown eyes turned golden, relaxing as you were drenched in light, embraced, and evolving into the sun itself— 
i exhaled shakily, stuttered with nerves when I realized myself: 
a mere sylphlike, billowy cloud, immersed in the sky that is you
