Sweet Land of Liberty

    Gotta Get That Boom Boom Boom

A glowing city
full of vainglorious treasures
And pride and wealth
beyond all measure;

A living relic
of times gone by,
with gleaming marble pillars
that kiss the sky;

A favored destination
for old and young alike
to “gain” a bit of culture
and tout the country’s might.

But those marble pillars
are masters of disguise.
If you pose them a question,
they’ll shower you with lies.

They hide a dirty secret
so sinister
it could crumble
that gleaming white marble,
make it tumble;

A history of lies
And deception
And horrors
Beyond perception.

Gleaming white marble
memorializing the chieftains
we find worthwhile,
disregarding the trail
where we put their lives on trial;

Gleaming white marble
Bloodied by the wounds
of innumerable slaves;
Gleaming white marble
Forming their tombs
And the stones of their graves

The wealth of this nation
was created by their hands
Toiling away on stolen lands,
But no one seems to understand.
